A film observer and critic who started writing about movies since he became a journalist for the weekly news magazine Gatra in 1995. Completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education at the University of Indonesia, in 2006 he received the Asian Public Intellectual Fellowship from the Nippon Foundation to conduct research on the effects of globalization on Japanese and Thai films. He co-founded the online review rumahfilm.org in 2008.
