Nyak Ina Raseuki or usually called Ubiet, is a person who is active in the Indonesian music scene. Born in Jakarta, May 24, 1965, she grew up in Aceh. She is active as a singer, improviser, composer and ethnomusicologist. As a teenager, Ubiet joined several popular music groups in Aceh and Jakarta. Ubiet’s perseverance in the study of sound, then the singing of the archipelago, led her to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, United States and earned a Master of Music and Ph.D in ethnomusicology, and later became a lecturer at the Jakarta Institute of Arts Graduate School.
